They moved with the family out of Buenos Aires to Victoria, London at the age of six when Taylor-Joy was born. Taylor-Joy acknowledged that the move had been difficult and that she was unable to pursue a degree in English because she hoped to be able to return to Argentina. Hill House was the new school she needed to go to after she left Northlands. She enrolled later at Queen's Gate School in which she took ballet classes and was involved in school plays. When she was 16 she quit school in order to take on a full-time job in acting. Taylor-Joy's desire to become a professional actress was born at an early age.
